Ciments de l'Atlas automates processes with VAS solution from Fritz & Macziol
FRITZ & MACZIOL (Morocco) - With the introduction of the IT-Logistic solution VAS of Fritz & Macziol, Ciments de l'Atlas (CIMAT) which is located in Casablanca, will continuously automatize the processes in its Moroccan plants. The implementation is carried within the scope of a KPI-Project, in which all processes have been analysed initially. Following, VAS is used to identify and eliminate weak spots by illustrating the potentials of optimisation. This for example can be achieved by detailed VAS reports e.g. about the length of stay of trucks at all kinds of locations within the plant.

The next step is the systematic conversion of fully automating the logistics of the two Moroccan cement plants - including the integration of the central SAP systems. Another plant, which is currently in construction in Nador, is to be equipped with the IT-Logistic solution VAS after its completion.

"For CIMAT this is a big step in the optimisation of our processes, as with VAS we have found a system that covers our conceptual, functional and technological requirements best", as Rachid Lahbara, Direction Performances et Investissements of CIMAT, describes the reasons for the decisions.

VAS has already been implemented in the Ben Ahmed plant (Province Settat, Morocco) in October 2013, which includes a fully automatic and non-manipulative waiting list for the trucks in the plant. With the use of displays at the parking area, the loading order also remains transparent for the truck drivers. Therewith, Fritz & Macziol is now also present in Africa with its IT-Logistic solution VAS, including a continuous French language version version.

About Ciments de l’Atlas (CIMAT):
Ciments de l'Atlas (CIMAT) has been built in 2007 within the scope of a lateral agreement on investment between the founder Anas Sefrioui and the Moroccan government, in order to guarantee the long-term development of the country's building sector. The company employs more than 500 employees in the cement plants Ben Ahmed and Beni Mellal, which in 2012 reached a turnover of more than 180 million Euro. The combined capacity of the plants, which are equipped with the latest technological standards results in 1.6 million tons per year per plant.

About VAS (from FRITZ & MACZIOL):
VAS – the process-oriented software solution for the basic materials industry – covers the entire process chain from delivery, through planning and loading to departure. VAS as the connector between the ERP systems and the technical systems is the key function and adjusting screw for an efficient process. In addition, VAS supports the reporting and provides real-time information to other systems, such as for production, sales or controlling. All technical third party systems, such as weighing, silo and dispensing technologies are fully integrated into the processes of the VAS logistics system. At present, VAS is used around the world in more than 120 plants in the basic materials industry.
