Cardinal Scale (United States) - Purchasing/Buyer.

Summary/Objective:

The buyer compiles and maintains records of business transactions and office activities of the organization by performing the following duties. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Printing and working the Material Requirement Reports. 
  2. Purchase supplies, data entry, and compiles records/reports.
  3. Negotiates pricing and inventory requirements with vendors.
  4. Negotiating contracts with vendors and requesting non-disclosure contracts
  5. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
  6. Contacts vendors for order status and discrepancies with quantity and quality.
  7. Works with Quality department on Discrepancy/Corrective Action (DCA)
  8. Interfaces with all departments and resolves problems and issues as necessary.
  9. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and authority
  10. Graphing, analysis, and tracking of top vendors 
  11. Setting up and hosting new vendors for possible new opportunities
  12. Cross referencing vendor part numbers to Cardinal Scales
  13. Implementing and maintaining the 5-S system for a clean working environment
  14. Helps develop the company’s inventory tracking system
  15. Locating sources of supply for material in an assigned category.  
  16. Interviewing of perspective suppliers, determining factors such as lead-time, price, discounts offered, and availability.
  17. Typing up debit memos, updating files, processing rejects and miscellaneous returns
  18. Expediting material shortage from vendor.
  19. Cooperation with all departments in buying the right material in the quantity and quality required.
  20. Acting as a liaison between individuals in the company and supplier representatives.
  21. Responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Three years of experience in an office / printing environment

Associate degree in an applicable field, and / or three years of experience.
