Schenck Process Launches its First e-Commerce Platform

Schenck Process GmbH (Germany) - Press Release: Schenck Process is proud to announce the launch of its brand new B2B e-commerce site. This is an exciting development in the Group’s online offering and demonstrates an ongoing commitment to innovate the overall customer experience. By providing a platform that streamlines the accessibility of its key component portfolio, Schenck Process has been successful in simplifying valuable customer interactions.

Aimed at trading customers initially within its EMEA locations, the new site will provide these customers with increased visibility on the breadth of the Schenck Process key component offering for a variety of industries, including Cement, Mining, Plastics, Chemicals, and Food. An automated ordering and quotation system will simplify the buying process for customer transactions whilst still ensuring the best functionality, security, and support are available. The products featured on the e-commerce platform commonly have standard specifications, making an automated channel for ordering them a much more efficient service.

Built in Magento 2, the site is on an open-source e-commerce platform, described as the most adaptable in the world currently, with a flexible and scalable architecture. It has allowed a high degree of customization enabling Schenck Process to provide the customer with a fully responsive, secure, and robust user experience.

The new platform has been launched in both English and German initially and will be made available in further languages in the near future.

With high-level functionality, the e-commerce site provides the following interactive features designed to provide a seamless digital interaction:

  • Integrated shipping
  • Ability to facilitate payments through existing invoice channels
  • Visibility of full customer order history for simpler re-ordering
  • Integration of product configurator, as well as standard attributes
  • Bestsellers and other key highlights
  • Visibility of related products
  • Save favorites function

While the website will initially showcase a variety of components, Schenck Process aims to broaden the offering over the coming months.

Lisa Farley, Head of Marketing EMEA commented:

“Our teams at Schenck Process are continually finding new ways to digitalize, simplify and improve the experience our customers have when working with us. The launch of our e-commerce site for key components is the first milestone towards opening a new channel of digital interaction. Working in process-critical industries means that many of our clients need smarter methods to keep important components in stock and get hold of them quickly. We are now better enabling this without changing their invoicing process.”

Frank Thomasberger, Director - Agents and Sales Locations EMEA, a key stakeholder in the site development said:

“One of the key benefits for our customers will be the 24/7 availability of technical details, prices and finally offers. With the help of simple to use configurators for applications such as belt weighers, hopper weighing or just selecting the right control our customers will be able to get quotes within minutes; therefore making their buying process easier.”
