Financial year 2013: Bizerba stays on course for long-term growth
Bizerba (Germany) - Bizerba, a leading provider of solutions for weighing technology, slicers and price labelling devices, finished the 2013 financial year with record turnover and thus remains on course for growth. The company, which is based in Balingen in Baden-Wuerttemberg and is represented in around 120 countries, increased its turnover by 2.5 percent compared with the previous year to 466.1 million euros. Of this, 310 million euros, or around two-thirds of turnover, came from business outside Germany. Bizerba employed 3,072 employees on average across the year.

“At Bizerba, 2013 was characterised, on the one side, by important internal structural changes in the area of Supply Chain Management, which are being implemented in reaction to the increasing demands of the global markets. At the same time, we have brought numerous product innovations onto the market, which have been very well received among our customers,” explains Andreas Wilhelm Kraut, Managing Partner and CEO of Bizerba. “With our new price labelling line, new PC scales and optimised slicers, in the future we will continue to offer first-class expertise and pioneering solutions that are ‘made in Germany’.”

Within the individual product segments, the areas of Slicers and Industrial Solutions saw the highest growth rates. The Service area accounted for the biggest proportion of turnover. The Labels & Consumables segment also saw increases in sales, with the company’s presence in Europe boosted by the takeover of a Spanish label manufacturer. As in 2012, Bizerba saw strong growth on the American continent, while Germany remains the biggest individual market, as before.

Bizerba has made a strong start to the 2014 financial year too: “The development of business in the first few months has made us optimistic, and the two important leading trade shows for our segments of retail and industry – Euroshop and Interpack – are already behind us,” explains Andreas Wilhelm Kraut. “Our customers’ reactions to our range of products and solutions have been very positive.” Bizerba is strongly focused on solution-oriented themes such as Industry 4.0 and Open Technology, offering retailers, trade and industry answers to the requirements of the new Food Information Regulation, for example, which comes into force at the end of 2014.
