OHAUS Introduces the new Pioneer PX Balances

Ohaus Corporation (United States) - Combining Economy and High Performance for Essential Weighing.

The New Pioneer PX:
OHAUS has now further expanded their laboratory weighing portfolio with the introduction of the new Pioneer PX balances which are designed for accuracy and repeatability for essential weighing applications in laboratory, industrial and education settings. The new Pioneer PX line of balances ranges from Semi-Micro to Precision models.

Dual Line Display for Clear Viewing of Weighing Results:
The new Pioneer is built for intuitive use in the laboratory and is equipped with a range of features for intelligent operation. The Pioneer features a brightly lit dual line display, which shows the weight in an easy-to-read manner, while a second line provides additional information or guidance prompts to the user.

RS-232 and USB Ports for Easy Communication:
Standard RS232 and USB device ports allow for easy connectivity to printers and other peripherals, allowing convenient capture of results. OHAUS’ free data collection tool (SPDC) provides a simple solution to import this data directly in formats such as Excel, Access, .txt, .csv etc.

Static Removal Bar Increases Accuracy of Results:
A static removal bar along the top of the draftshield provides a convenient grounding location, allowing the user to discharge any static charge that may have accumulated prior to handling samples and weighing. This helps compliance with good weighing practices, while improving the stability and accuracy of results.

"With the introduction of our new Pioneer PX series we are now completing the full refresh of our laboratory weighing instruments. It has been designed with high OHAUS quality in mind for a long-term use, and at an affordable price. ", said Szymon Hołubowicz , Senior Market Manager at OHAUS Corporation.

Weighing is the most commonly performed task in any laboratory:

There are many types of balances that are being used for this purpose, they differ in capacities and readabilities but all of them are sensitive to harsh environment conditions. There are many factors that influence the weighing results. If the balance's location does not comply with the guidelines of good weighing practices, there is a high probability that results are not going to be repeatable or accurate each time a weighing is performed. Air drafts, temperature changes, direct exposure to sunlight or even lack of proper maintenance of the balance might cause the results to be simply wrong. The better/higher the readability of the balance is, the higher the chances of incorrect results negatively affecting the whole weighing or research process etc.

One of the factors having a direct, negative effect on weighing results are static charges. They cannot be seen but are influencing adversely the weighing results if present. Mistakes in readouts are more likely and more significant if the balance's readability reaches up to 4th or 5th decimal place, however not only analytical and semi-micro balances are prone to it. Elimination of static charges might require increasing relative humidity in the room, changing the way of storing samples or weighing boats, or using external devices. OHAUS Explorer Semi-Micro balances have a built-in Ionizer as standard in selected models, there is also a standalone Ionizer available as an accessory.

The newly launched Pioneer PX balances have been equipped with a feature helping to eliminate static charges too. On the top of the draftshield there is a red bar located – it is a static charges removal device that is made of dissipative ABS. No additional power or connection is needed to make it work. Elimination of static charges requires just touching the bar with the object that requires grounding.

"For an entry level balance such as Pioneer PX this feature is unique and aimed at helping the users to obtain the most accurate results every time" says Szymon Hołubowicz, Senior Market Manager at OHAUS Europe GmbH. "Users can now be sure that their results are correct even using equipment prone to cumulating static charges".
